Fixtures & Results
2009-10
Olton 1A v Solihull Checkmates
Few dates available, but the team won 2½-1½. Richard Smith lost and Mark Cundy
drew, but Phil Holt on one and Alan Lloyd on board 3 crafted wins.
Olton A v Olton B
Phil Holt persevered on board one against Richard Reynolds, whose precarious
position finally fell apart. Richard Smith and Trevor Holt went all-out on board
2, but the most unlikely of results became ever-more feasible and the game was
drawn. Gary Hope looked to have some pressure on board 3 against Alan Lloyd, but
a few careful side-steps later and it was a win for Alan. Mark Cundy and Dave
Cheshire on bottom board seemed destined for a draw from the off, but they
decided to play a few moves first.
Banbury v Olton
Phil Holt had an uncharacteristic loss on board 1, but Richard Smith levelled
the scores with a win on two. Alan Lloyd drew on board 3 and Mark Cundy's draw
on bottom board drew the match.
Solihull v Olton
A whitewash saw wins for Phil Holt (by default) on board 1, Alan Lloyd on two,
Rob Wallman on three and Mark Cundy on board 4.

Round 1
22/9/2009 - Banbury 2½-2½ Olton
The holders crashed out when they met last season's final opponents.
Phil Holt won comfortably on board 1 and Richard Smith on two seemed to have
the upper hand. Alan Lloyd drew on board 3, but might have done better. Mark
Cundy started off on the wrong foot and the game went down from there. Rob
Wallman won on board 5, but Richard lost and the match was lost on board
elimination.
